My Nana Rose was desert born and bred and when she moved to the city with her husband the judge and her four daughters she took her love of gardening with her.
I love the structure of this article, another beautifully written one that left me wanting to know Nana Rose, your neighbor up the road, Ray, and you. Your posts end too soon for me; they always reach the point where they can and maybe need to end, but I find I'm not done. -- I'm so sorry for what you and Ray will be going through. I'm grateful for the health providers who will be there for you both and know you'll treasure your moments together. May it be an easy passing, full of love and all the best memories. You're doing angels' work. ❤
We too plant potatoes. French fingerlings, in multiple old eight foot round galvanized water tanks. We just harvested enough to fill our 22 cubic foot fridge (less the big freezer drawer) chock full of boxes of potatoes. Every inch of the fridge space is full of fresh potatoes. We eat them for months, until the spring crop comes.
Cindy, I'm so glad you found me. Your words bolster me, especially on Sundays when I often find myself sobbing. Thank you, new friend.
Thanks Michael. I think Nana died on the first day of Spring, which she had been waiting for.

Another really beautiful post that shows such deep understanding. You and Ray inspire me! Sending all good wishes to you both.
Thank you Emily, I'll share your comment with Ray, he'll be so happy to hear from you, as I am. How are things in DC?

I haven't planted potatoes for a long time. You've inspired me!
